Paul's Falls

I have lived in the Falls since 1968. My great-great grandfather was one of the village founders. I have served the community in multiple ways: Firefighter, various boards and commissions and for many years was president of the Falls Cable Access Corp. Currently I own, and am active in, a restaurant equipment manufacturing company.

What is the origin of that word?

Seeing a picture of Joann Kreimendahl in Menomonee Falls Now recently reminded me of a moment  more than twenty years ago.  I was chatting with Joann before a meeting at Village Hall, and found out that we were both followers of a column named Words, Wit and Wisdom.

The column was a regular feature in the Green Sheet, and has long since disappeared.  It presented the meaning  and origin of various words in common and not-so-common usage.

Recently I found a similar site online.

Every Saturday I receive an update from its author, Michael Quinon.  World Wide Words is sent out free of charge and you might find it quite interesting.  Give it a try:
