On Monday, February 1, the students in the school participated in a lunch drive to make lunches for the less fortunate in the community. Our principal received the folllowing letter from the parish representative of the Franciscan Peacemakers outreach program.
Dear Mrs. Joyner,
Thanks to you and all those involved at St. Mary Parish School for the successful outreach to the less fortunate served by the Franciscan Peacemakers. When I met with Deacon Steve and Carmen from Franciscan Peacemakers today, they were very excited to tell me that the school had provided 528 lunches. They had just returned from delivering all the lunches. Carmen noted that some families receiving them were overjoyed that they had food for more than one day! As I was collecting more lunches from parishioners, one of the 8th grade girls was coming from practice or a game at the activity center and was very excited to ask me to guess how many lunches the school provided. She also mentioned how awesome it was for her to be a part of the program. St. Mary School has sure helped in the formation of the leaders of our future. They "get it" from all the evidence I have seen through the years at St. Mary. Keep up the great work!
