This blog will feature highlights of programming by Falls Cable Access, a not-for-profit organization located in Menomonee Falls High School.
Happy Holidays from all of us at Channel 13 & 14! As it has for everyone, the Holiday Season snuck up on us again this year. I intended to do an area wide search for holiday concerts and plays this season, but alas the changeover from the remote trailer to the remote cart in the high school, along with Community Christmas Card taping left us 2 weeks into December with only 1 play and 1 choir concert from the local churches.
Well it's not too late. If your church or school has an upcoming program that they would like to run on the access channel during the Christmas season, we'd love to have it. To submit a program just email us at email@example.com and drop a DVD of the event off at the High School Office. Let them know it is for Cable Access and they will see that we get it. We will immediately get it into the rotation for the next couple of weeks. If you are interested in having it played on our On Demand streaming site you should indicate that in your email.
Things have heated up in the studio. All of our regular shows have new episodes playing now or have a scheduled taping in the next few weeks. Cap'n Bud has informed me that he just about finished with his newest show and has assured me that if your looking for nudity, The Show is not for you. The high school sports season hits high gear in December through February. We have nine boys basketball games, 4 as of now for the girls, 3 wrestling meets, 2 gymnastics meets and a boys swim meet on the schedule. The basketball games and gymnastics meets will all be live on channel 14 before being rebroadcast in the regular schedule. The "Live" broadcasts are possible because of a link to the cable studio from the gym and the ability to control the server from an iPad in the gym. The "live" programming has proved to be challenging however the entire crew has responded to the excitement of going live at 7:30 with no margin for error.
We are still experimenting with wireless video during the basketball games, and the addition of scoreboard information being streamed right to our on screen graphics has been a big hit. We have a new announcer in our stable of on air talent. Troy Sparks is a free lance reporter for the Express News and a sports reporter for Milwaukee Community Journal Newspaper. He also spent 3 years with both Milwaukee Access (MATA) and Time Warner Sports. He is a great compliment to John Mercure, Bill Hintz, Brent Morris, Chuck Demge and the irascible Mister Wonderful...Jerry Mislang.
