Don't Touch That Dial

This blog will feature highlights of programming by Falls Cable Access, a not-for-profit organization located in Menomonee Falls High School.

EXCITING CHANGES AT CHANNEL 14

Well, the construction is finished in the cable studio and a couple of shows have already been taped, although there were some minor problems.  The new area is going to provide storage for equipment available to the public and space for archiving all the video from the past 25 years.  It will also ease the stress on the technical parts of the studio, ( control room and stage).  This should make things much more efficient for the media studies class, cable access shows and the TV production classes that all originate from the studio.  We have our best base of volunteers right now but are always looking for people interested in teleproduction to join in the fun.

Broadcasting has been a nightmare this last 3 months.  The server used to store and broadcast programming had a few issues and they seemed to rotate in and out.  Fix one issue, and by the time I would get home, another issue would pop up.  Some of the problems were related to concrete dust and humidity, while others were related to new hard drives with that needed updating.  Black screens and bad or no audio were common place.  Timing is everything because the company that makes the server introduced a new version that does streaming video to the INTERNET. They are offering an upgrade so they will take the original in trade.  What will this mean to Channel 14?  Well you will have to wait for our announcement later this month.  It will prove to be a major change to communications here in our fair village.
