Happy Holidays from all of us at Channel 13 & 14! As it has for everyone, the Holiday Season snuck up on us again this year. I intended to do an area wide search for holiday concerts and plays this season, but alas the changeover from the remote trailer to the remote cart in the high school, along with Community Christmas Card taping left us 2 weeks into December with only 1 play and 1 choir concert from the local churches.
A series of small events on our video server a few weeks ago, hardly seemed like they were major issues. By Thursday May 26th it brought both Channel 13 & 14 to their knees. Most of Friday Saturday and part of Sunday were spent finding ways to outsmart the system and get back on the air while waiting for the manufacturer to check their voice mail. Even the remote assistance from the technician went on for 6 hours before we had a healthy system again.
The calender said May 14th and I was walking out of Miller Park. That being said, you could safely bet that I was in shorts and the Brewers had won based on off season predictions. Yes the Brewers won but as I shot out the door I was greeted with stinging, icy rain that was blowing almost horizontally. I laughed as I moved quickly to the car thinking, hey this is just like a normal opening day. Two days later it's still pretty chilly and I'm running out of patience. Channel 14 is about to go on a 2 week stretch of soccer, softball, baseball, concert and parade coverage with the mobile trailer that is supposed to mean Summer is here! Let's hope so (for the camera operators sake).
It's that time of year again! Falls Cable Access and the Menomonee Falls Scholarship Foundation are hosting the "INCREDIBLE TRIVIA CONTEST" live on Channel 14, Time Warner Cable in Menomonee Falls. The contest starts promptly at 4:00 PM Saturday April 2nd, and will originate from the high school TV Studio.
It seems the runaway favorite for the Oscar this year maybe "The Social Network". (King's Speech getting last minute push). The Social Network is the story of the founding and growth of Facebook. Originally started by a handful of colleges to stay in touch and well...socialize. It has grown into a billion dollar corporation and spawned dozens of other digital communication applications. Instant one-on-one with anyone in the world.
