Approval Ratings

Presidential Politics

 This morning, at breakfast, my wife asked me "what is missing from news reports these days"?
I had no answer except to utter Jackie Gleason's "humma humma humma...".

She then noted that she has missed news reports about the President's approval ratings.

Movie Reviews

In the event you did not know this already, I'm going to say it again: I am a movie buff. If I could, I would spend my entire weekend at the movies! Since 2007 I've kept a list of all of the movies I see, with a brief review. This list is located here, on my regular blog, and as I see a movie it gets added in.

Here's the list! Enjoy!

Undecided Voters

Local Elections

 Across the country, in every election poll, an attempt is made to try determine the winner in advance of the actual election. The pollsters always ask questions, sort answers, and then publish their results. They often cite percentages of for, against, and undecided for the various candidates and issues.

The Menomonee Falls race for Village Board President is now one of those polls. In this query, I'm asking those who have not made a choice for the Board President to speak up.

You Can't Always Get What You Want

 A year or so ago I was in the market for a new vehicle.
I searched the internet, newspaper ads, and showrooms - finally settling in on a list of features that I really wanted.

It had taken a lot of time. I carefully selected my dream car.  It would be an SUV, hybrid, with extreme seating comfort.  My aging, bony behind demanded it.  Overpowered engines took second place.

You Cannot Multiply Wealth by Dividing It

"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

~~~ The late Dr. Adrian Rogers, 1931 to 2005
Disclosure
 I have been receiving emails from the Davis for President Campaign for nearly 2 months now that are not being reported on by the 4 local newspapers that I feel should be because of the importance to our Village on the issues that are very critical for the future of our Village, but for some reason are being blacked out by the press.
Closing Schools - A Citizen Asks Some Questions
Closing Schools
 There was a meeting last Monday regarding the closing of one or more buildings in the MF School District. I am in the process of learning more about the choices but a good citizen got up to speak and he brought a list of his questions for everyone to read. I think they are fair and reasonable questions and he asked anyone in the room to email him and he would share the answers with them. I will comment about the meeting in another post but,  I am posting his entire email unedited. His email address is encrypted so it cannot be trolled and spammed off this blog, but you can figure it out. Jeff.Cegielski (_at_)    motorola   __  dot __ com.  I also invite the District to respond in their own words, unedited as well.
Twittering away
dog, family, just because, LOST, The Closer, yoga
I don't know about you, but I'm so tired of cold weather. I was enjoying spring for a while there! I was walking my dogs. I put my winter boots away. And, I even opened my windows to let some fresh air in.
And then it snowed. I had to put the dog leashes away. I had to pull out my boots. And I had to shut my windows. And then I even managed to get hit with some stupid bug that made me miserable for about five days. And my daughter was sick too.
Just what kind of students are we graduating?
My schedule does not usually allow me to go to the Saint Anthony sporting events, but Thursday and Sunday, I had the opportunity to watch our 8th grade girls play in the Padre Serra tournament, and I learned some important things about whether Saint Anthony’s is really preparing our kids to succeed as they go off to high school and beyond.  The answer is: we are indeed!
Sure, we all would have loved it if the team had come in first (or second).  I am really glad they didn’t, though, because their loss on Saturday is what really set the stage for the things I saw on Sunday.
