For every single adoption from the Wisconsin Humane Society, supporter Stan Kass will donate $100 back to the organization, up to $100,000! We hope to reach the goal of finding homes for 1,000 homeless animals in 6-7 weeks and we've added a special incentive:
All adoptions at the Milwaukee and Ozaukee Campuses will be 25% off until we reach 1,000 adoptions!
As summer races by it is stopping this week at my favorite time of the year. This Saturday is the 25th annual Great Taste of the Midwest beer festival in Madison. If you are a fan of beer this event should be on your bucket list. Breweries from all over the midwest put on a great sampling and festival. I am really looking forward to some of the Bourbon barrel aged beers that will be available. The weather looks to be outstanding and not nearly the high heat of the last 2 years. My good friend, The Professor, is having this as a send off before he departs for a oversees teaching opportunity for 5 months.
The 2nd weekend will be Irish Fest at the lakefront in Milwaukee. Relatives will be up for the event and my family takes its Irish fest very seriously. From the rope pulls to the Red Hot Chilli Pippers, fun is to be had for all. In the comment section please list your 2 favorite summer events and with my next blog I will list them with my recap from Great Taste.
HAWS is proud to present the second annual Ride for Rover motorcycle run, next Saturday, August 27. Riders and non-riders alike are welcome to join in this family-friendly, all-ages event in support of area homeless animals.

Notes HAWS Executive Director Lynn Olenik, “Ride for Rover is open not just to motorcycle riders but to anyone who would like to support HAWS and co-host Friends of M.A.D.A.C.C.” Olenik continues, “The Ride and picnic will be a great time, and we love to partner with fellow members of the animal welfare community – especially to celebrate companion animals and all they mean to us!”

Here is a corporate story about an unlikely David slaying a Goliath: Blockbuster vs. Moviemanns Video and Games.
Huzzah for the independent business man when his company outlasts a Fortune 500 powerhouse 6 blocks from his store.
Summer is officially winding down, and the site of swimming suits and convertibles will soon be replaced with backpacks and big yellow school buses. You have your “to-do” list practically complete, but students – especially college students – aren't fully prepared until they’ve been warned about these scams that specifically target them. From a scammer’s point of view, a young person away from their parents for the first time and eager to be independent is an easy target.

"Summer" comes to an end this Labor Day weekend...even tho we'll still have great weather (we hope) for awhile to come! At any rate, HAWS Mobile Adoption Center is sending off summer in style.
This Saturday, September 3rd, the Mobile staff and volunteers will be holding a Brat Fry outside of the beautiful Pick'n'Save at the Shoppes of Fox River. Ya gotta eat, right? So, c'mon out to Sunset Ave. in Waukesha and tailgate for the happy tails at HAWS!
While you're feasting, wander across the parking lot and meet a few of the "beasts" - that are really not at all beastly - that are up for adoption at HAWS. In the Mobile unit's tradition of "Bringing Happy Tails to YOU" we'll have a selection of cat/dog/small animal representatives from our shelter hangin' out at Petco-Waukesha. Make it a Labor (Day) of Love and pick out a new family member.
Stop by - say hi - drop off a donation for HAWS - tell us about your best pet friend!
We'll see YOU between 11am & 2pm at:
1220 W. Sunset Drive, for the brat fry
1240 W. Sunset Driver, for the adoptable pets!
By the way - our website, www.hawspets.org, is THE place to go for pictures of adoptable pets, a calendar of the latest and greatest special events and seminars...plus all kinds of resources for pet owners. Get involved in the "HAWS cause" - Adopt, Learn, Give!
