Christopher Eichner of Germantown earned his bachelor's degree in health care administration from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in December.
Benjamin Hapka, Jessica Schleis and Kate Zolandz of Germantown and Rayna Chucka of Menomonee Falls made the fall semester dean's list at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design.
Katie Baumgart of Germantown made the fall semester dean's list at the University of Findlay in Ohio.
Tucker Graczkowski of Menomonee Falls made the fall semester dean's list at North Central College in Naperville, Ill.
Chris Barnes of Germantown, a student at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, has been selected to perform the euphonium in the department of music honors recital April 14. The department's faculty selected students for the recital based on their performances at auditions held earlier this year.
SCHOOLSCENE
Lisa Kiefer of West Bend, a teacher at Menomonee Falls High School, and Mary Langford of Germantown, a teacher at St. Agnes School in Butler, have each been named a 2012 Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Fellow. Fellowship recipients are chosen for their superior ability to inspire a love of learning in their students, their ability to motivate others, and their leadership and service within and outside the classroom. Each fellow's school will receive a $1,000 grant.
The Optimist Club of Menomonee Falls selected the following as the March Students of the Month: Jon Mackey from North Middle School, Cole Sterr from St. Anthony School, Tori Sterr from Menomonee Falls High School, and Daniel Schwalbach from Menomonee Falls High School.
Menomonee Falls High School art student Alli Ewald earned Gold Key recognition in February for her photograph, "Pedaling in Europe," at the 2012 Wisconsin Scholastic Art Competition at the Milwaukee Art Museum. The piece traveled to the national youth art competition in New York City, and Alli has been invited to attend the awards ceremony at Carnegie Hall and to participate in several showcase events at Parsons, The New School for Design.
YOURNEIGHBORS
Cadet Master Sgt. Carter Welsh of Menomonee Falls, color guard commander, and Cadet Airman 1st Class Jacob Fuiten of Menomonee Falls, rifle bearer, both with the Timmerman Composite Squadron based at the Milwaukee at Timmerman Airport, were part of the color guard team that took first place overall in the annual Wisconsin Wing Civil Air Patrol Cadet Competition held at the West Bend National Guard Armory. Fuiten also won the Fleet Foot award for the mile run. The team advances to the 2012 Great Lakes Region Competition to be held at the Illinois Military Academy in Springfield in April.
