Summertime concert series begins today

Menomonee Falls — The annual Village Centre Concerts in the Park series begins today at Village Park at the intersection of Garfield Drive west of Appleton Avenue.

Bring your picnic baskets, lawn chairs and blankets for free family fun.

The concerts begin with a performance by "Our House" today, June 5, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., and continue Thursdays throughout the summer.

Hot sandwiches and cold drinks will be available for purchase.

In addition, noon concerts kick off on Friday, June 13 with an appearance by Bobby Way.

These concerts are held at Mill Pond Park on Main Street behind Associated Bank. Food will be available for purchase from Nino's Italian Bakery beginning at 11:30 a.m., and the concert runs from noon to 1 p.m.

Party in the Park

hits Rotary Park

Menomonee Falls — The annual Menomonee Falls Chamber of Commerce Porch Party has a new name. The party, which is open to members and non-members alike, was formerly held in the parking lot of the chamber.

This year, the larg-est of the chamber's Business After 5 events will move to Rotary Park west of Lilly Road between Fond du Lac and Menomonee avenues.

At a fee of $10 per person, the event features food and beverage samplings, raffles and live music. It will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 12.

Germantown — There will be a free car care clinic from 4:15 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, June 10 and 17, at Quik Lube Oil Change, N112 W16076 Mequon Road.

The class will feature how to check fluids, what warning lights mean and how to save money on gas.

Local pottery business Just Kiln' Time, N88 W16683 Appleton Ave., is featuring a series of "Date Night" events for parents who wish to drop off children for a few hours on a Friday night.

At a cost of $35 for the first child and $30 for each additional child, spots are available from 6 to 9 p.m. Fridays, June 6 - July 18.

Police to perform

car seat inspections

Germmantown — Representatives from the Germantown Police Department will be on site to do free car seat inspections at Quik Lube Oil Change, N112 W16076 Mequon Road from 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 24.

Historical landmarks now open for tours

Germantown — A number of historical landmarks are now open for summer tours.

Dheinsville Settlement, N128 W18780 Holy Hill Road, will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays, June 4 through October 1.

Also owned and operated by the Germantown Historical Society, the Wolf Haus Genealogy Research Library will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday and the first Wednesday of the month beginning Wednesday, June 4.

Finally, the Sila Lydia Bast Bell Museum will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays, June 1 through October 1.

Taking flight to help

Falls Scout Troop

Menomonee Falls — Flying Electrons Airfest 2014 takes place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 28. A donation of $3 per carload will give attendees the opportunity to see planes, jets, and helicopters take flight for a cause at Club Flying Field, N61 W17000 Kohler Lane.

The air show will commense at noon, but food, drinks and raffle prizes will be available throughout the day.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit Menomonee Falls Scout Troop No. 110.
