Meet Your Menomonee Falls principals

Aug. 29, 2013

Falls High School

Corey Golla

Years of experience being a principal: I have one year of experience as a Principal. I have worked in administration for eight.

Role model and why?: As a leader I admire Franklin Delano Roosevelt. His active, pragmatic approach to problem-solving through trial and error is admirable as was his courage in leading through incredibly difficult times.

Favorite TV Show: It dates me, but "MASH" had it all.

Best back-to-school memory: I am not even certain if it happened early in a year or not but when I was very young our school in Plainfield, Wis., was burned to the ground. I recall waking up and walking to school and learning of the fire from the crossing guard. We had multiple rural fire departments pass our home in town during the night and we never heard them. We had to attend school in alternative locations for the year as the school was rebuilt. The most unique place I attended was the UW-Wisconsin Experimental Farm on Highway 51.

North Middle School

Lynn Grimm

Years of experience being a principal: I am beginning my third year as a principal at NMS.

Favorite subject in school: math

Role model and why?: My father was my role model. He treated everyone with dignity and respect. He was a kind man and very intelligent.

Favorite TV Show: "The Amazing Race"

Best back-to-school memory: The school I attended was so crowded that a pod classroom had to be rented and placed adjacent to the school building. My sixth-grade class was assigned to the pod for the entire year. The experience truly bonded our class and helped build lasting memories.

Favorite summer song: "Wipeout"

Favorite pro-football team: The Packers

Hobbies outside of school: tennis and snowmobiling

What school clubs or sports were you involved in? tennis, track, cheerleading, 4-H (sheep), and student council

Ben Franklin Elementary

Cassie Martin

Years of experience being a principal: four (although only six months at Ben Franklin!)

Favorite subject in school: math — it's the coolest!

Role model and why? It may sound cheesy, but I would have to say my parents. They have always been there for me, supported me and encouraged me to accomplish things I never thought I could!

Favorite movie: easy — "Field of Dreams"

Best back-to-school memory: When I was in second grade, my brother started kindergarten and I got to show him around. It was pretty awesome!

Favorite summer song: a classic — "Safety Dance"

Favorite pro-football team: I feel like this one should be a no-brainer — Packers, of course!

Hobbies outside of school: I like to run in half marathons and hang around my two girls and husband.

What school clubs or sports were you involved in? volleyball, basketball, softball — I really like sports!

Riverside Elementary

Scott Walter

Years of experience being a principal: five

Favorite subject in school: math

Role model and why? My parents and Terry Thomas because of the way they treat everyone with dignity and respect and the way they lead others in a quiet and unassuming way. I also learned a lot about work ethic growing up and working at Pop's Custard with Sharon Whitman.

Favorite TV Show: "Seinfeld"

Favorite movie: "Major League"

Best back-to-school memory: First day of fourth grade because I was looking forward to being in Ms. Cain's class at Valley View. My first day of teaching was something I had looked forward to for a long time. Now as principal there are great memories every first day of school because of the excitement in the air and smiles all around from kids and parents.

Hobbies outside of school: spending time with family, reading, collecting older football memorabilia

Shady Lane Elementary

Brad Hoffman

Years of experience being a principal: This is starting my second year.

Favorite subject in school: social studies — U.S. history

Role model and why? My dad because he worked very hard to provide for our family and made sure that we knew how to work hard and how to treat other people.

Favorite TV Show: "Survivor"

Favorite movie: "The Sandlot"

Best back-to-school memory: My first year teaching. Having my own classroom. I couldn't wait to meet all of my fourth-graders and get my career at Shady Lane started. I haven't left.

Favorite summer song: "Summertime" by DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince

Favorite pro-football team: Packers

Hobbies outside of school: Playing softball and basketball. Just spending time with my family at home.

What school clubs or sports were you involved in? football, basketball and baseball

Valley View Elementary

Tina Posnanski

Years of experience being a principal: three years at VV as principal

Favorite subject in school: math

Role model and why? My father is my role model. He was always a dedicated businessman and family man! He had a special way of making everyone (clients and children) feel like they came first!

Favorite TV Show: "America's Got Talent"

Favorite movie: "White Christmas"

Best back-to-school memory: I lived about 2 miles from school. As I grew older, my parents allowed me to bike to school with my friends. This was always a special event.

Favorite summer song: "Cruise"

Favorite pro-football team: Packers

Hobbies outside of school: hiking, spending time with my family
