Churches work together in name of hope
An organization of churches throughout Waukesha County called the Cooperating Congregations of Waukesha County has worked for many years to serve people in need. Now they have changed their name to Hope Center.
For many years their annual fundraiser was the HOPE dinner and auction. HOPE stood for Helping Other People Everyday. This year the benefit focused on raising money primarily for the CCWC's meal and food programs.
Held at the Country Springs Hotel, the fundraiser featured a reception, silent auction, sit-down dinner and live auction. The committee arranging the benefit included Judge Mike and Mary Bohren of Jerusalem Presbyterian in Wales, Dwayne Butler of Our Savior's Evangelical Lutheran in Hartland, Joe Finn and Brien Lee of St. William Catholic Church in Waukesha, Suzanne Fischer Lorenz of St. Mark's Lutheran in Waukesha, and Ron Storjohann and Marlene and Ralph Zick of St. John's Lutheran in Brookfield.
Members of the CCWC Board of Directors include the Rev. Ted Romberg, the Rev. Jim Stein, Leslie Kleba, Tim Cornell, Mark Aamot, Lynn Chudzik, Kimberly Gomez, Ron Johnson, Pam Larsen, Ken Miller, Eric Larson and the Rev. Matthew Noffke.
This year the Hope Center will provide day shelter and meals for homeless people staying at St. Matthias during the winter months.
