Krause withdraws from trustee race
Menomonee Falls — Although his name will be on the primary election ballot, Scott Krause has decided to withdraw from the race for Seat 4 on the Village Board.
He said he is withdrawing for personal reasons. He endorses incumbent Michael McDonald, who has been on the board since 1990.
"If you were going to vote for me, I would put your vote toward Mike McDonald," Krause said.
Because the village already had printed the ballots for the Feb. 16 primary, Krause's name will remain with McDonald's and former Village President Jefferson Davis.
The top two vote-getters in the primary will advance to the April 6 general election.
If Krause is one of the top two vote-getters, his name will be on the April ballot. The only way it could be removed, Deputy Clerk Joan Hintze said, is if Krause dies before the spring election. If Krause wins the seat in the April election, he could immediately resign. Then the board would have several options.
The board could appoint an interim trustee to serve out the unexpired term, which would be three years in this case, or until a successor trustee is elected, either by general or special election. The board also has the option to leave the seat vacant until a successor trustee is elected, either through general or special election.
