Twelve vie for Falls Junior Miss title
Menomonee Falls — Twelve Menomonee Falls High School junior girls will participate in the 2011 Menomonee Falls Junior Miss scholarship program at 7 p.m. Saturday in the high school auditorium, N8101 Merrimac Drive.
The girls participating are Kathleen Bodenbach, Mackenzie Curran, Andrea Dwyer, Hailey Gurgul, Rebecca Leda, Jessica Longley, Sarah Mattick, Kierra Mercure, Christine Robertson, Madeline Sharkey, Ava Thomann and Sarah Volk.
Junior Miss, sponsored by the Menomonee Falls Optimist Club, is a local program for America's Junior Miss. The mission of America's Junior Miss is to empower outstanding high school girls by providing scholarship opportunities, developing life skills and encouraging positive values; and to impact the lives of all young people through the Be Your Best Self outreach program.
Participants are evaluated on scholastics, 20 percent; interview, 25 percent; fitness, 15percent; talent, 25 percent; and self-expression, 15 percent.
The winner of the local program is awarded a $1,000 scholarship from Optimist Club and a $5,000, four-year renewable scholarship to Carroll University.
The program is open to any junior girl who resides in the village.
