Susan Borden surprised with education award
Germantown — Superintendent Susan Borden, who is leaving her post at the end of June, was presented with a Friends of Education award at the School Board meeting on Monday for her dedication and service to the School District.
Borden accepted a position with the DeForest Area School District. She thanked her staff for all of their support.
"No one does it alone. Our staff is fabulous," she said.
Support staff getting
2 percent wage increase
Germantown — The Germantown School Board on Monday approved a 2 percent wage increase for its roughly 250 AFSCME employees, meaning support staff such as custodians and aides.
AFSCME members now have to vote and approve that amount. It will then come back to the School Board for the signing of the final contract in order for the 2 percent wage increase to go into effect. AFSCME employees include custodians, aides, food service employees, secretaries and any support staff.

Jewish Guild scholarship
Menomonee Falls — As a 2013 GuildScholar, Ian Kloehn of Menomonee Falls, is heading to college in September with assistance from his scholarship from Jewish Guild Healthcare.
He is one of 16 legally blind, college-bound high school seniors to receive scholarships of $10,000 each from the Guild for this upcoming academic year. Kloehn, who is a graduating senior from Hamilton High School, will be attending Marquette University in the fall.
Four resign from Germantown School District
Germantown — The School Board on Monday accepted the resignation of four employees and hired two new educators.
Those resigning at the end of the 2012-13 school year are Daniel Ferkovich, cross categorical teacher at Germantown High School; Cynthia Eisenman, speech and language pathologist Darrin Berger, cross categorical teacher at Kennedy Middle School; and Cindy Dieringer, school nurse.
Katie Matter was hired as a full-time Spanish teacher at the high school. Lauren Schell was hired to the choral and music department at Kennedy Middle School.
Lunch and milk
prices to increase
Germantown — Lunch prices at Germantown High School will increase by $0.10 for the 2013-14 school year to align with federal standards. This means lunch will cost $2.60.
Milk prices districtwide will also increase by $0.10, making the total cost $0.35. Milk prices have not increased for more than 15 years. Lunch prices at the elementary and middle schools will remain the same.

Menomonee Falls — The Menomonee Falls School Board on Monday approved a $0.05 increase to the high school student lunch fee for the 2013-14 school year. All other breakfast, lunch and milk fees will remain unchanged.
The board also reduced the ninth- and 10th-grade laptop fees by $5 and eliminated the $10 co-pay fee option. All other instructional fees for the 2013-14 school year remain unchanged.

annual meeting date
Menomonee Falls — The Menomonee Falls School Board officially set Sept. 9 as its annual meeting date.
At the annual meeting the electorate approves the operating budget and the tax levy.
