Pettit Mites win in Sparta
The Pettit National Ice Center's Mites youth team recently won its second hockey tournament of 2009, the 2009 Frozen Fiesta Mite/Squirt C Tournament in Sparta.
The Pettit Mites beat the Sparta Mites and teams from Milwaukee and Viroqua.
The Pettit Mites also won the recent Washington County Ice Invitational in West Bend. The Pettit Mites and Squirts will participate in another tournament in Reedsburg at the end of February.
The Sparta tourney win extended the Mites' record to 15-4-4.
"The popularity of Pettit Youth Hockey is growing thanks to our developmental approach to the game and the fun atmosphere that our coaches have created for the players," Pettit director of hockey operations Mike Araco said.
The Pettit program includes players from throughout the Milwaukee area, including Fox Point, Franklin, Germantown, Milwaukee, Muskego, Pewaukee, Waterford, Wauwatosa and Whitefish Bay.
