Behind Taylor Dory's individual runner-up score of 86, the Indians earned their first-ever team trip to sectional when they took fourth in the WIAA regional meet at Blackstone Creek on Sept. 29.
"The first time in our 10 years as a program," Falls coach Tony Pritchard said, "and we did it with smoke and mirrors after having our butts kicked all year, but we got it done today. We did what no other Falls team has ever done."
Falls will take part in the WIAA sectional meet at Westhaven in Oshkosh on Tuesday. The top two teams and first three individuals not on those teams advance to the WIAA State Meet at University Ridge in Madison, Oct. 12 and 13. Dory is trying to become the first Falls girl golfer to advance to state (see MenomoneeFallsNOW.com for details).
Dory shot a consistent 43-43 for her 18-hole total, which trailed only team champion Arrowhead's Erika Pfaender's 82. "The way she's been playing the last few weeks, she's in great shape (for a run at state)," Pritchard said.
Dory's score led the Indians to a team total of 400. Other team qualifiers for sectional included Arrowhead (352), Homestead (373) and Hartford (379).
Other scores for the Indians included Sarah Ebert (103), Nicole Zywiec (106), Sandy Gramz (105) and Kelcie DesJardins. Pritchard said the team reacted well despite the fact that the course played very long.

Lisa Wishmann extended the season for the Warhawks by earning the third and final individual qualifying slot at the WIAA regional Germantown hosted at Blackstone Creek on Sept. 29.
Wishmann turned in an 18-hole score of 103 for her spot. That score led the Warhawks to a seventh-place team score of 437, as Arrowhead won the meet with a 352 mark.
She will play in the sectional meet at Westhaven in Oshkosh on Tuesday (see GermantownNOW.com for details). The top two teams and first three individuals not on those teams advance to the state tournament at University Ridge in Verona on Oct. 12 and 13.
Other individual regional scores for the Warhawks included Ali Lotz (108), Katie Reils (115), Michelle Dunk (111) and Katie Burkhart (120).
Germantown football
Fast is fast no mater the conditions.
The Germantown football team found that out the hard way on Friday, when area power Cedarburg took the visiting Warhawks to task in a 37-13 decision.
"We just didn't match up well with their speed at all," Warhawks coach Phil Datka said. "Their field held up pretty well (despite a steady rain). And if they're faster than you when it's dry, they're probably still faster than you in the mud."
Germantown's third straight loss dropped them to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in North Shore play. They will try to get well when they host Nicolet (1-5) in their annual homecoming game at 7 p.m. Friday. The Knights were 44-0 losers to defending state champion Homestead on Saturday.
"We're going to try and regroup," Datka said. "We have three games left and we can still accomplish some things."
The normally run-oriented Cedarburg squad (5-1), which was coming off its first loss of the season to Homestead, showed an adept passing game as Chip Rank had three second-quarter touchdown tosses as part of a 27-point explosion by the Bulldogs. The score was 34-0 at the half.
Mike Fischer got a late touchdown run and Zach Rosen caught a short touchdown pass from Dylan Krivoshein for Germantown to make the score respectable.
"They looked like a very good team," Datka said. "They should do well in the (state) playoffs."

In a productive but quiet homecoming week, the Indians downed nonconference foe Franklin, 4-0, on Friday, after edging GMC foe Wauwatosa East, 1-0, on Sept. 29.
The two wins left Falls at 13-7-2 overall. They will close out the regular season this week with a nonconference home game at 7 p.m. Thursday against Watertown.
The Indians took a 3-0 lead against Franklin in the first half on the strength of two goals from A.D. Gonzales (both assists A.J. Patterson) and another from Charlie Jankowski (Skylar Hying). Jankowski added an insurance goal in the second half.
Against Tosa East, Corey Volden notched a score at the 60th minute (Nick Burgoyne). The Falls defense limited the Red Raiders to just one shot on goal.

With six of seven flights placing, the Warhawks did as well as could be expected in the very deep North Shore Conference Tournament, taking fifth.
Germantown qualifiers will take part in WIAA sectional competition in Waukesha on Wednesday. The first four finishers in flight one of singles and doubles plus the winners of flight two in singles and doubles automatically advance to the state individual tournament at Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison on Oct. 15-17.
"Everyone on the team is playing very well," said Warhawks coach Scott Bicknell. "They are all peaking at the right time in the year. … I am confident our team will do well (in the sectional) tournament."
Defending state champion Homestead dominated the North Shore tourney with fellow state-ranked teams Nicolet and Whitefish Bay second and third, respectively.
Fourth singles player Alex Gerard was fourth in her flight to lead Germantown. Meanwhile, Brittany Dudzik at third singles and Jenny Graham at second singles and the doubles teams of Stephanie Seidler and Kari Walters, Paige Rudolph and Jessica Knudson, and Celina Mastronardo and Erin Jankowski all earned fifths.

In a hard-fought dual, the Indians came up just a little short of Greater Metro Conference powerhouse Brookfield Central, 97-89, on Thursday.

Amanda Siehs was a double victor, taking the 100-yard freestyle (56.41 seconds) and the 50 free (25.95). Other individual winners included Haley Lucas in the 200 free (2:05.25), Sarah Tighe in diving (236.8 points), and Briana Botros in the 500 free (5:33.92).

In addition, the Indians also claimed the 200 medley relay with Sommer Semanek, Grace Devine, Dana Kucharski and Siehs (1:59.8); and the 400 free relay with Siehs, Botros, Lucas and Devine (3:48.32).
