The Indians injury-plagued, yet triumphant season came to a quiet and frustrating end, with a 2-1 WIAA double overtime sectional semifinal loss on June 7 to eventual state qualifier Grafton.
The Blackhawks (19-6-2), who beat top-ranked and previously unbeaten Cedarburg on June 9 in the sectional final to advance to this week's state tournament, scored first against Falls in the 72nd minute, but the Indians forced overtime with just a minute left in regulation on a score by Jami Lessila.
But Grafton got the game-winner in the second overtime (Emma Fatla).
The loss ended the Falls' campaign at 17-6-2. The Indians graduated eight seniors including Jackie Noshay, Olivia Dennis, Hailey Schild, Molly Poeske, Emily Bollman, Nelly Botticelli, Cassie Poeske and captain Jenna Woodson.
The Indians lost numerous key starters to injury this season including three season-ending anterior cruciate ligament injuries.

In many ways, the youthful Indians overachieved this season, as they defended their Greater Metro Conference title with a 17-6 overall record.
Their season did come to a disappointing conclusion with a 9-2 regional final loss to eventual WIAA state tournament qualifier Sussex Hamilton, but it was still a positive season for a team that had two freshmen starters (third baseman Brittany Robinson and utility player Kelly Berglund) as well as other young players playing key roles. There were a total of three freshmen, two sophomores and six juniors in the starting lineup.
"We had a lot of different contributions from a lot of different people," coach Wendy Wolff said. "It hadn't been that way in the past. We've had our stars and they usually took control. But this year, we had all kinds of kids in all different age groups helping out."
Wolff earned coach of the year from the Greater Metro Conference and the Indians did well in the all-conference balloting, including first-team selections senior pitcher Nikki Festge, junior catcher Jamie Ertl, Robinson on the infield and senior outfielder Rachel Defnet. Second-team choices were Berglund at utility, junior Maddie Eikenmeyer in the outfield and senior Nicole Weggen on the infield.
Seniors included Festge, Defnet and Eikenmeyer.

After the magic of making the state tournament a week earlier, the Indians just could not sustain the dream under the white-hot crucible of the WIAA's signature event at University Ridge in Verona on June 4 and 5, as they took 16th with a 36-hole score of 687.
Arrowhead won with a 611 mark while Holmen was second with 618 and Marquette, which was the sectional champion at Washington County, from where the Indians' qualified, was third with 620.
Kevin Burchardt led the way for the Indians with a 165 total (rounds of 83 and 82), while Brendan Paule came in with a 169 (84-85), Joe Serio 177 (82-95), and Joel Zyhowski 182 (91-91). Davis Narey played the first round and carded a 90 while Brandon Cole played the second round and shot the same.
Jordan Niebrugge of Homestead was the individual medalist with a state record-tying 136 (70-66).
Falls had individual team 18-hole rounds of 339 and 348, respectively.

The Warhawks' Jakob Garstecki rallied after a poor opening round of 80 to record a second-round 74 and pull into a tie for 18th individually in the WIAA State Tournament at University Ridge on June 4 and 5 with a 36-hole score of 154.
Garstecki had tied for seventh individually last season.
He is tied for the sixth-best returning golfer in the field of 104.
