Looking to the Future: Manufacturers, Chambers of Commerce and Schools Come Together for Educational Trade Show

The Menomonee Falls, Germantown and Sussex Chambers of Commerce, in cooperation with their area school districts, will be producing an educational trade show called the “Manufacturing Career Expo” (MCE) on October 15, 2009 at Davians Banquet and Conference Center in Menomonee Falls.

The hope is to raise the awareness of the importance of technology after high school and the level of the global impact that many of the local businesses have within the immediate area. The participating businesses, chambers of commerce and schools see this event as a long term investment in our communities’ young adults. Boosting student interest, passion and understanding of what it will take to contribute to our local manufacturers in a highly competitive global market is key to the future success of not only the individual student but industry overall.

Along with the participating businesses, several post secondary schools will be in attendance to provide the critical link between high school and a career in manufacturing.

A portion of the proceeds from the MCE will be dedicated to funding a 2 year Technical Education Scholarship that may be applied for by students from the participating school districts. It is the hope of the MCE that one day a scholarship recipient will come full circle and establish a career with a local manufacturer.

To date, the participating companies and post-secondary schools are:

Wacker-Neuson, Harley-Davidson, TDMAW, Schunk Graphite, Ellison Technologies, QuadGraphics, Airgas Safety, Magnetek, Core Consulting, Bradley Corporation, Milwaukee Electric Tool, IGM Robotics, ETCO, Glenroy, Engineered Plastics, Plastic Components, Trace-A-Matic, Tailored Label Products, General Metal, MSOE, ITT, WCTC, Marquette University and UW- Milwaukee.

Note: This event is NOT a job fare. It is for the High School Students of Menomonee Falls, Germantown and Hamilton School Districts.
