Art Guild Welcomes Watercolorist Thomas Mulhaney
The Art Guild of Menomonee Falls is excited to have Watercolor Artist, Thomas Mulhaney as our guest speaker for our March meeting. Thomas was schooled as an engineer and had a successful work life here in southeast Wisconsin. Upon retirement he chose to take classes with some artistic direction. Mulhaney soon was drawn into the watercolor medium and continued to take 10 week courses at WCTC. Soon he found that the class was not advancing his skills but he wished to continue painting. He then attended the class but not as a pupil, he simply came to paint on his own. After 35 ten week sessions the school found itself in need of a replacement teacher and approached Mr. Mulhaney. The student became the teacher.
He has been teaching watercolor for last 10 years and also founded the Brookfield Watercolor Guild. The guild is a group of painters at many skill levels who learn from each other. Each artist brings something to the table giving their peers technique and inspiration. An unusual side note about Thomas is that he has never painted at home. All of his work was created at a class or guild gathering. With hundreds of paintings behind him Thomas will show several samples of his past work and he will be creating a new piece as part of his presentation.
The AGMF March meeting will be held at the Falls Public Library on Tuesday the 23rd. Guests are welcome to join us at 6:00pm for social time, followed by our business meeting and guest speaker.
